Carla Ryan wins rare cycling double
12th January 2009
Carla Ryan, recipient of the 2007 Amy Gillett Scholarship, has won a rare cycling double at the Australian national titles in Buninyong, Victoria. Last Wednesday 7 January she won the Australian time trial, the second time that she has done so, coming in ahead of Alexis Rhodes and Kathy Watt. On Saturday Carla beat Ruth Corset and Nikki Butterfield in the road race. The only other female to have won the double at the national championships is Oenone Wood.
At just 23 years of age, Carla is riding with the European team Cervelo Lifeforce and is proving herself to be "one to watch". We look forward to seeing Carla's results through 2009 and congraulate her on a fantastic start to the year.
