Amy’s Ride Victoria a great success

4th January 2010

The fifth Annual Amy’s Ride Victoria was held on Sunday 3rd January in Geelong with 2,500 riders raising more than $230,000 for the Amy Gillett Foundation.

Participants in the ride wore the Amy Gillett Foundation ‘A Metre Matters’ jerseys supporting the new AGF campaign to encourage motorists to provide more space on the road to cyclists.  Riders also had the opportunity to ride with their heroes from the Jayco Bay Classic including Robbie McEwen, Baden Cooke and Graham Brown, plus eventual Jayco Bay Classic winners Chris Sutton and Rochelle Gilmore.  Another highlight of the day was Cadel Evans riding in his World Championship jersey and then generously spending an hour signing autographs.

Our thanks go to Cycling Events for their support of Amy’s Ride and a big thank you to all the volunteers and supporters who helped in ensuring the ride is so safe and well organised.  Overall it was a very successful day and we thank all participants who took part and thank them for their support of the AGF and our programs to increase road safety for bike riders.
