Amy Gillett Bikeway opens

The first stage of The Amy Gillett Bikeway (from Oakbank to Woodside) was officially opened on Saturday 23 January 25, 2010, by the Minister of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure, Patrick Conlon along with Amy’s parents, Denis and Mary Safe.
When totally completed the Bikeway will go from Oakbank to Mt Pleasant, a distance of 32 kms.
The project has been funded by the state government of SA as a shared use track for cyclists, walkers and horse riders.
These three groups were all represented at the official opening.
The bikeway will provide a safe and picturesque environment for all users and economic stimulus to the local communities.
The Bikeway, named in honour of Amy Gillett – an Australian rower and cyclist, provides a lasting legacy for all to enjoy in a safe environment.
